Building a Path to Lasting Recovery in Virginia
Founded in September 2023 by an experienced behavioral health professional specializing in Substance Use Disorder (SUD), VSTS was created to support people wherever they are in their recovery journey. Whether you’re just beginning to seek help or continuing care after a more intensive level of treatment, VSTS offers a safe and supportive place to start—or continue—your healing.
Our vision is to walk alongside individuals as they move from treatment into long-term recovery, without losing the care, connection, and guidance that make recovery sustainable. From day one, our goal has been to provide genuine, trauma-informed care that feels accessible, compassionate, and effective.
At VSTS, we believe recovery is not a one-size-fits-all process. We focus on the whole person, helping you build stability, reconnect with yourself, and create a healthier, more fulfilling life—at your own pace, with ongoing support.
Our Mission & Values
Our mission is to provide compassionate, trauma-focused treatment that addresses the root causes of substance use. By integrating evidence-based therapies with somatic practices, we help clients reconnect with their bodies, navigate emotional challenges, and cultivate the skills they need for long-term recovery.
Whole-Person Healing
We believe recovery goes beyond symptom management. Our programs explore the emotional, physical, and psychological factors that contribute to substance use.
Practical Tools & Skills
Clients frequently share that they appreciate our emphasis on real-world techniques to manage cravings and interrupt negative thought patterns—a hands-on approach that differs from traditional, process-only group therapy.
Small, Focused Groups
With no more than 7 people per group, we foster an atmosphere of trust and individualized support. We also run gender-specific groups to ensure clients feel comfortable discussing sensitive issues.
Compassionate Expertise
Led by CEO and Clinical Director, Samar Tehrani, our team includes clinical staff and peer recovery specialists (PRS). We offer services in both Spanish and Farsi, and one of our clinicians is EMDR-certified, enabling us to address complex trauma within the recovery process.
How We Design Our Care To Work For You
Trauma-Informed Care
We recognize that past experiences can shape current behaviors. By acknowledging and working through trauma, we support holistic healing.
Somatic Practices
These techniques help clients regulate their bodies and emotions, enhancing their ability to cope with stress, triggers, and everyday challenges.
Medication-Assisted Treatment
MAT is provided to support patients in their recovery by improving treatment retention, reducing relapse, and helping individuals maintain stability while living their daily lives.
Ready to Begin Your Recovery Journey?
At VSTS, we believe in the transformative power of compassionate support, tailored treatments, and the unwavering belief that recovery is possible. Every day, we witness individuals rediscover hope, rebuild relationships, and reclaim their lives—one step at a time.
