Youth & Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Empowering the Next Generation to Overcome Substance Use and Thrive

At VSTS,  we recognize that adolescents and young adults face unique challenges when it comes to substance use. Our Youth & Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is carefully designed to help teens develop the emotional resilience,  coping skills,  and healthy relationships they need for long-term sobriety. By prioritizing both age-appropriate therapies and family engagement, we lay the groundwork for a transformative journey that extends far beyond treatment.

What Sets Our Youth & Adolescent IOP Apart

Age-Appropriate, Trauma-Informed Care

Adolescents often juggle identity questions,  peer pressure,  and unresolved traumas that can lead to substance use. By addressing these issues head-on, we help them gain self-awareness and inner strength,  setting the stage for a more positive self-image and healthy relationships. Through trauma-informed therapy and somatic practices,  adolescents learn to regulate emotions,  recognize triggers,  and build resilience—empowering them to make life decisions that foster well-being.

Family Involvement & Skill Building

A teen’s environment significantly influences their recovery journey. Involving parents or guardians provides ongoing support, open communication, and stability,  reinforcing positive changes throughout treatment and beyond. Our IOP includes family sessions and resources to cultivate a united approach to healing,  ensuring that adolescents have strong support at home as they progress toward sobriety.

Small Group Sizes & Peer Connection

Teens thrive when they feel heard,  valued,  and understood by their peers. By keeping groups at 7 or fewer,  each participant benefits from focused attention and a safe space to share. Close-knit groups allow for genuine friendships,  accountability,  and positive peer influence, all of which can extend beyond the program and contribute to a robust sober support network.

Holistic Continuum of Care

Any young clients face co-occurring mental health disorders,  academic pressure, or other social stressors. A full-spectrum approach enables us to adapt treatment as they grow and change. In addition to traditional therapies, teens can access Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) (when clinically appropriate),  EMDR for deeper trauma resolution,  and holistic services for a well-rounded foundation in sobriety.

How Our Youth & Adolescent IOP Works

Comprehensive Assessment

We start with a thorough review of each teen’s substance use history,  emotional well-being,  family relationships, and academic status,  ensuring a personalized treatment plan.

Therapeutic Sessions & Skill Development

Group therapy focuses on healthy relationships,  stress management,  and emotional regulation tailored to adolescents. Individual counseling dives into personal triggers,  trauma,  and goal-setting,  helping each teen develop a roadmap for sustainable sobriety.

Family Engagement

Family therapy encourages open dialogue,  strengthens bonds,  and develops a shared understanding of the recovery process. Parents and guardians gain resources to support,  reinforce,  and celebrate their teen’s progress at home.

Educational & Community Support

Collaboration with schools or local resources ensures teens receive external support that complements their therapeutic work. Teens learn to balance academic responsibilities,  navigate peer pressure,  and form positive social connections.
